MONTGOMERY, AL (WSFA) -

A civil lawsuit is being filed against Faulkner University and several of its employees following an April 2012 incident in which a former student was arrested and charged with first-degree attempted kidnapping.

The suit, filed on behalf of Camille Langley, 24, alleges that while enrolled at Faulkner, Women's Soccer Coach Jeff Ireland raped the woman. The suit also names Faulkner University and the University President, Vice President, Dean of Students, Assistant Dean of Students and Director of Human Resources as defendants.

When reached for comment, Faulkner University said it "categorically denies these charges and will vigorously defend itself against them." The university said it would have no further comment due to the pending litigation.

Langley, a native of Jamaica, was arrested on April 4 after police responded to the campus administrative offices. Authorities said Langley, armed with a knife, wanted to see the university president and the former vice president of student services. She was stopped by internal security before reaching them.

Police charged Langley with first-degree attempted kidnapping during the course of its investigation after interviewing witnesses and Langley, whom they said indicated her intents.

The University believes "the intended victim was Faulkner's president, Dr. Billy Hilyer."
