
"Might Times: The Children's March," a co-production of the Southern Poverty Law Center and HBO, has received an Academy Award nomination in the Best Documentary Short Subject category.
The film was made by Tell the Truth Pictures and tells the story of youn people in Birmingham who braved fire hoses and police dogs in 1963 in the battle to end segregation.
Jennifer Holladay, director of the SPLC's Teaching Tolerance program, said in a statement issued by the Center, "The real heroes of the film are the children of Birmingham. We hope to inspire new generations with the distribution of this film. It serves as a reminder of the power of youth to change the world, then and now."
