The American Red Cross says it is housing five-thousand-380 Hurricane Katrina evacuees in 49 Alabama shelters.
Red Cross spokeswoman Alba Rivera in Washington says the group has opened seven new shelters since yesterday as more disaster victims appear to be migrating out of the disaster area. Governor Bob Riley estimated that there are between 10 and 30-thousand evacuees in the state. Some are staying with relatives or in hotels.
