More Colorful, Secure Ten-dollar Bill Going into Circulation

WASHINGTON --  The Federal Reserve banks have now issued the redesigned Series 2004 $10 note to the public through commercial banks.

The notes will begin circulation immediately in the U.S., and will then be introduced in other countries in the days and weeks following, as international banks place orders for $10 notes from the Federal Reserve.

The Bureau of Engraving and Printing is asking businesses that handle cash and use machines that receive or dispense cash to continue to update their machines to accept the new notes.

The agency says the new money is part of an ongoing effort to stay ahead of counterfeiters.
