Montgomery Police Debunk Child Rape Rumor

Montgomery police say there is NO truth to claims that a small child was raped at a local shopping center. Hundreds of e-mails have circulated claiming the assault happened in the restroom of the Sears store at Eastdale Mall.

"After detectives and the mother of the child questioned her about the accusations, it was determined that the child concocted a story about a rape in order to cover up the fact that she had accidentally urinated on her clothes while inside the restroom," said Montgomery Police Captain Huey Thornton.

Thornton went on to request that those who forwarded the false e-mail notify the recipients of its inaccuracies.
