WSFA 12 News has received a new poll from the Montgomery based Capital Survey Research Center, showing Alabamian voters preferences in the presidential election.
On the Republican side, the last man into the race leads in Alabama, but his lead is dwindling. Fred Thomson is the preference of 26% of Alabama Republicans - down by about a fourth from his numbers in July. Thompson pushed Rudi Giuliani into second place in July, but now Giuiliani is at 24% only two percentage points behind.
John Mccain is third at 12%, followed by Mitt Romney at 9%, Newt Gingrich at 7%. 18% of Alabama Republicans are undecided. When it comes to the Democrats, Hillary Clinton blows away the competition at 40%, nearly doubling #2 Sen. Barack Obama at 21%. Sen. John Edwards is third at 14% and at 21% - a sizable number of democrats say they're undecided.
