Auburn Officials Meet to Discuss K-9 Units on the Field

Posted: Updated:

Auburn University is meeting with safety officials to discuss their options after a football player was bitten by a security dog during the Iron Bowl.

The bite, caught on tape, has been replayed on ESPN, and is posted on "You Tube."

Alabama's pass  thrown deep into the end zone was incomplete, but as Auburn's Jeraud Powers waved his hand, a K-9 from the Opelika Police Department bit the player.

Some fans seemed to think the incident was funny, but safety officials say it's no laughing matter.

They are not releasing a statement until Opelika Police, Auburn Police and University officials meet to discuss what happened and decide if the bite will change the use of K-9's at future games.
