Auburn, Al. (WSFA) -- There may be a possible break in the Lauren Burk murder case. Though officials will not confirm the arrest of a suspect, a news conference has been called for Saturday morning at 10am. At Friday's news conference Auburn Assistant Police Chief Tommy Dawson had said there would be no press conferences over the weekend unless something major developed.
An Atlanta television station is now reporting that Phenix City Police have arrested a suspect in the case after a high speed chase Friday afternoon. All questions by WSFA 12 News to the Phenix City Police Department are being referred to the Auburn investigators. WSFA 12 News will be at that press conference and will bring you the very latest as it becomes available.
Burk was murdered Tuesday evening and her car was later found burning on Auburn University's campus. If you have any information call the Task Force tipline at (334)501-3140.
