Indian Workers March Through Montgomery Calling for Change

Updated:

A group on a mission walked along one of montgomery's busiest thoroughfares today.

A group calling itself the "Indian Workers on a Journey for Justice" walked down Atlanta Highway towards Eastdale Mall.

The group based out of New Orleans, Louisiana, is walking to Washington, D.C. To demand an end to abuses of the h-2-b guest worker program.

Organizers and supporters are traveling through key sites of the civil rights struggle.

The group plans to arrive in Washington, D.C. Next Wednesday.

Montgomery Police did stop the marchers, but only because of a traffic concern.

Because they were walking down a busy roadway,  police told the group they would have to stay off the road for their safety as well as the public's.
