Michael Mims Trial Begins

Prattville, AL (WSFA)-Today prosecuters released new information in a 2007 Prattville murder case.

 29-year-old Michael Mims' is accused of shooting and killing his brother-in-law, Randolph Cannon, during an argument.

Prattville police now say Mims was free on bond until two weeks ago, when he was arrested on a domestic violence charge.

Mims is indicted on murder and manslaughter charges. The manslaughter charge will give the jury the option to decide if Mims acted in the heat of passion.

 If found guilty Mims could get 10 years to life in prison.
