MPD Badges, Guns Stolen

Posted: Updated:

SHELBY COUNTY, AL (WSFA) - a Shelby County home burglary has Montgomery police on alert.

That's because investigators say someone broke into a retired Montgomery police officer's home Wednesday and took three MPD badges and two weapons.

Police say they are concerned someone may try to use the badges and are encouraging folks to be on alert.

If someone tries to pull you over are you're not sure if it's really a police officer, turn on your emergency blinkers, slow down and pull over in a safe place.

You can also dial 911 to confirm a real police officer has stopped your vehicle.

If you have any information in the theft of the badges call the Shelby County Sheriff's office at 205-669-4181 or log on to www.ShelbySO.com.
