Judge refuses to recuse himself in Lauren Burk murder case

Posted: Updated:

AUBURN, AL - There is new information in the case of murdered Auburn University student Lauren Burk.

Monday morning the judge assigned to the case denied the defense's motion to recuse himself from the case.

WSFA 12 News' sister station, WTVM-TV, is reporting that attorneys for Courtney Lockhart, the man accused of killing Burk, argued that Judge Jacob Walker has possible ties to Auburn University that would cause him to be impartial in his judgement.

The defense says it will appeal the judge's motion to recuse himself.
