Covington County is looking for a new probate judge

Montgomery, Ala (WSFA) -- On Friday, Judge Sherrie Phillips turned in her resignation.

In her letter to Chief Justice Sue Bell Cobb she expressed great pleasure in serving the people of Covington County.

Phillips was arrested on theft and ethics violations in June. Later that month, Cobb named Leland Enzor of Andalusia as the "Special Probate Judge."

Phillips served as probate judge for 20 years.
