State Medicaid Lawsuit

Posted: Updated:

More troubles maybe on the way for the Alabama's Medicaid Agency. Since the federal government provides approximately 70 percent of the funds for Medicaid, the feds now say they want their share of the money the state won after suing the pharmaceutical companies for drug overcharges.

The state however says it hasn't received any money from the lawsuits because they're all on appeal.

Today Attorney General Troy King said, "For the federal government to take a position that they're going to assert a claim on money that may not be paid for a decade or longer, can only do one thing, and that is to inflict further harm on people who have already been greatly harmed. It's wrong. It's immoral. And we won't stand by and allow it to occur."
