SELMA, AL (WSFA) - Just hours after the body of a Selma woman was discovered Tuesday morning, police named and arrested a suspect.

Twenty-two year old Shamika Walton was reported missing Friday and a search team began looking for the woman. Her body was discovered around 11am Tuesday in a wooded area near Alabama Highways 219 and 14.

Her boyfriend, 25-year-old Rodriques Simpson, was arrested a short time later on Hwy. 14, "Very near to where the body was found," said one detective.

Simpson had been the last person known to see Walton alive and was questioned by investigators that day.

The victim's body was taken to the Alabama Department of Forensic Sciences for an autopsy.

Simpson is currently in the Dallas County Jail under a $750,000 bond.
