Melissa McKinney is a general assignment reporter for WSFA 12 News.
Melissa graduated magna cum laude from the University of Georgia's Grady College of Journalism and Mass Communication with a Bachelor's degree in Broadcast News while also receiving a minor in Speech Communication. While at UGA, Melissa anchored, produced, reported and worked behind the scenes for the university's student-run, daily newscast, Newsource 15.
She had the opportunity to spend a summer in New York City interning for Fox News Channel's Live Desk with Martha MacCallum where she helped gather video, create graphics, and produce while working alongside industry leaders.
Melissa's love for television broadcasting began in high school when she worked on her school's daily news show, Today @ Shiloh. It was through that experience she learned she wanted to make a career in television news.
Melissa is a member of St. James United Methodist Church in Montgomery and sings in the worship band. She is also a member of the River Region March of Dimes Board of Directors.
Melissa loves spending time with family and friends. She enjoys traveling and had the opportunity to backpack through Europe with her best friend upon graduating college. Melissa enjoys eating, singing, running, and making new friends.
She is excited to be a part of the WSFA family and looks forward to sharing your story! Feel free to email her at mmckinney@wsfa.com.
