TUSKEGEE, AL. (WSFA) - Authorities are identifying the body of a man found late Tuesday evening on the edge of a county road in Tuskegee.
Police Chief Lester Patrick tells WSFA 12 News the victim is 39-year-old Derrick Bailey.
Bailey, a Tuskegee native, was found on the edge of Highway 29 on the outskirts of town around 7:30pm in a "semi-conscious" state. He died a short time later.
Chief Patrick says he is surprised of the location of the homicide because it is a very quiet neighborhood, not far from downtown and even the sheriff's office. Police say they believe someone dumped the man on the side of the road.
Investigators would not release any other information.
Bailey is Tuskegee's second homicide victim of 2009.
