MONTGOMERY, AL  (WSFA) -- Members of Alabama's House of Representatives have decided to carry over a decision on a bill that would put former Alabama State University trustee Joe L. Reed's name back on the ASU Acadome.

Legislators, ASU Board of Trustees members and alumni plan to meet before having a hearing.

The current bill is the second effort by a legislator to restore Reed's name during this session.

Senate Pro Tem Roger Smitherman introduced a bill on his first day as leader of the senate to reinstate Reed's name, but dropped the bill a short time.

ASU leaders blasted the bill saying it would set a dangerous precident.
