Tuesday was a rare holiday

Posted: Updated:

If you love math, or just loved math as a kid, you may get a kick out of Tuesday.

It happens only nine times in a century, and if you aren't looking you might just miss this rare holiday.

It's square root day! 03/03/09

This holiday happens when the day and the month are both the square root of the last two digits of the current year.

The last square root day occurred on February 2, 2004 (02/02/04) and the next will occur in seven years on April 4, 2016 (04/04/16).

Also coming up this month, Pi Day. On March 14 math lovers can celebrate Pi, the mathmatical formula used to find the circumference of a circle's diameter, which is 3.14.
