Confederate Flag In Prattville Sparking Controversy

Something new on Interstate 65 is catching drivers' attentions in the Prattville area.

It's not a new billboard, but it makes a statement. An enormous Confederate flag recently popped up on the southbound side of the highway. You can see it waving in the wind near mile marker 194 just above Prattville.

The flag is prompting questions and concerns for some people who have seen it. Tabitha Ellisor is upset by it. She tells WSFA 12 News, "It shouldn't be right off the interstate. If you want it, have it somewhere where people can't see it. I mean that's your business, you shouldn't try to let everyone know. That's what causes conflict between people." Carrie Sails agrees. She says, "I think that is what they want to do. It's their opinion of things, just like wearing t-shirts and whatever else."

The giant flag appears to be on private property. WSFA 12 News was not able to find out who owns it or why they put it there. We'd like to hear from anyone who knows more about this flag.
