Eric Snitil

You could say Meteorologist Eric Snitil has a knack for the extreme. You've seen Eric on WSFA for the last six years, and he's proud to call Alabama home. A native of Northeast Ohio, Eric was lucky enough to know from Day 1 what he wanted to do with his life. A passionate weather geek, the eclectic mix of warm season severe weather and cold season lake effect snowstorms helped fuel his curiosity for the skies above. Eric has a BA in Broadcast Journalism from Kent State University and a Certificate of Broadcast Meteorology with Advanced Standing from Mississippi State University. While at Kent, he served as Weather Director for TV2, the University's student run television station. His work at TV2 earned him national recognition as "Best Student Weathercaster" in back to back years from the Broadcast Education Association. As if it weren't already cold enough in Ohio, Alaska came calling. Eric headed west (way west) to serve as morning Meteorologist at CBS affiliate KTVA in Anchorage, Alaska. The stunning backdrop of snowcapped mountains and wild array of winter weather is something he'll never forget. But his love for storm chasing had to be put on hold. After a year, it was back to the Lower 48 to begin a tenure in central Alabama. Between tornado outbreaks, floods and ice storms, for this weather nerd, it's the perfect place to call home. Eric has earned his Seal of Approval from the National Weather Association. In 2015 Eric was named Best Weather Anchor in Alabama by the Alabama Broadcasters Association. He also earned Best Weather Anchor honors from the Associated Press in 2015 and 2017. Eric now serves as WSFA 12 News' morning meteorologist and can be seen on Today in Alabama and WSFA 12 News at Noon.
