Valley woman eases pain of pet owners who must say goodbye to their dogs and cats

It's a decision Rondell Lezha and her daughter wish they didn't have to make - taking their 14-year old springer spaniel "Moose" to the veterinarian, to be put to sleep. "They say you'll get over it, but its really hard because everything in your house reminds you of them," said Lezha.

Being a teenager these days isn't easy, and nobody knows that more than Chandler High School mental health counselor Janice Hobbs. "Sometimes going home is really hard for them," said Hobbs. "Sometimes they have job issues. Relationship issues are always real big." Cheyanne Gaffka, 16,  knows first hand what a difference words of encouragement can mean.

Christina Alfaro has rescued hundreds of dogs and cats across the Valley, and she's not about to stop now.  "We just go out wherever there's a need and pick up animals," said  "We bring them to our house and then we call on different rescues to help us."

You can see the love Kaylynn Hart has for 2-year-old Gabriel. "I just saw that he needed me and I needed him," said Hart. Gabriel used to be Hart's patient at a long-term care facility in the Valley. As a baby, Gabriel had meningitis and a stroke, leaving him with an assortment of physical and mental disabilities.
