About five thousand people from across the United States attended a Ten Commandments Texas Rally in Dallas over the weekend. Pastors and politicians discussed the importance of God in politics at the event that included a speech by ousted Alabama Chief Justice Roy Moore.
The rally was sponsored by several Christian and educational organizations. The event marked the first large-scale rally for the Ten Commandments organization. Site coordinator Ken Breivik tells The Dallas Morning News that several more gatherings across the nation are planned.
Speakers included former ambassador and ex-presidential candidate Alan Keyes; Doctor Rick Scarborough, president of an evangelical Christian organization called Vision America; and Moore.
Moore was removed from the Alabama Supreme Court last year when he refused to obey a federal court order to take down a Ten Commandments monument he had put in the state's Judicial Building rotunda.
