Economic Impact of Bama Jam

Enterprise, Ala. (WSFA) -- Bama Jam may be over but Chrissy Bucklins excitement isn't

Chrissy manages the Mellow Mushroom in Enterprise.

She says Bama Jam made for great business.

"The hotels are right behind us and we're the first restaurant they see when they come in and out," said Bucklin.  "So it was great business for us."

The same is true for other businesses in the city.

At one gas station, the workers there say they had people at their store all weekend.

"Oh it was incredible it was really great business, we've been preparing for two weeks," says Kimberly Hines, who works in Enterprise.

Over the three day event organizers say crowds peaked around 100,000 people.

With that many people coming to the area, officials are looking for a big boost to the local economy.

"One which I think we will see to continue to benefit us as the weeks and months go by because that money will be spent and turned over ten of eleven times in the community," says Phil Thomas, President of Enterprises Chamber of Commerce.

There was one negative for Bucklin and the others working this weekend  They never got to go to Bama Jam.

"I would have love to have gone," said Bucklin.

However they'll have an opportunity next year, organizers plan on bringing Bama Jam back.
