BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (AP) - Former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin completed a Birmingham-area book signing where she was greeted by hundreds of fans chanting her name. Palin autographed copies of her new book titled "Going Rogue" on Monday, drawing a crowd that packed the Colonial Brookwood Village Mall at Homewood for hours before she arrived. She was accompanied by several family members including her father Chuck Heath.
A crowd estimated by police at about 1,800 lined up beginning Saturday night for a chance to get one of the 1,000 wristbands needed to meet Palin. About 500 people packed the same Books-A-Million store Sunday afternoon to get former Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee to sign his new book, "A Simple Christmas."
Huckabee ran for the Republican nomination for president last year. Palin was the Republican candidate for vice president in 2008.
