
MONTGOMERY, Ala. (AP) - A summary of action in the Alabama Legislature on Thursday, the 13th meeting day of the regular session:
HOUSE
-Passed a resolution mourning the death of art collector Paul Jones, who donated many of his works to the University of Alabama.
-Newly elected Republican Rep. K.L. Brown of Jacksonville was sworn-in by House Speaker Seth Hammett.
-Passed a bill that appropriates additional funds to two schools damaged by tornadoes in Lee and Walker counties. Goes to Senate.
-Debated, but did not vote on a bill to require state courts to consider past "no contest" pleas when deciding sentences.
SENATE
-Approved a bill that would allow drivers to be ticketed if they use a handicap parking placard to park in a handicap space but aren't transporting anyone who is handicapped. Goes to House.
-Voted to allow the creation of a POW/MIA state auto tag. Goes to House. AGENDA
-House meets at 1 p.m. Tuesday and Senate at 2 p.m.
