Troopers ID 4 victims in fatal I-65 crash

GREENVILLE, AL (WSFA) - Alabama State Troopers are identifying the four victims killed in Monday night's multi-car crash along Interstate 65 in Butler County. Among those killed: two women from Georgia, a man from the Virgin Islands and a teenage boy from Florida.

Injured victims included three children who were transported to a Pensacola, Fla., hospital by helicopter. Two others suffered non-life threatening injuries.

Troopers identified those killed as 53-year-old Jennifer Richardson of College Park, Ga.; 15-year-old Kelvin Pickering of Naples, Fla.; 69-year-old Ira Juan Cito Fleming of St. John, Virgin Islands, and Lorraine Ione Fleming of Snellville, Ga., whose age was not immediately known. Troopers say all of those killed were in a car driven by Richardson.

The crash happened around 7:00pm at the 125 mile marker approximately three miles south of Greenville.

Trooper Kevin Cook said Richardson's Mazda 3 sedan was traveling northbound when it crossed the median and slammed head-on into a 2002 Chevrolet 1500 extended-cab pickup truck driven by Karon West, 37, of Slidell, La. West's pickup truck then collided with a 2002 Toyota Highlander SUV driven by 21-year-old Anna McGuire of Berkley Lake, Fla.

West and a passenger in her vehicle were transported to V. Stabler Hospital in Greenville for non-life threatening injuries. The three injured children who were inside West's vehicle were taken by Life Flight to Sacred Heart Hospital in Pensacola. Their conditions are all reported as "stable."

The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
