Alabama Crime Victim's Compensation Commission

MONTGOMERY, AL (WSFA) - The Alabama Crime Victims' Compensation Commission (ACVCC) assists innocent victims of violent crimes with expenses such as: funerals (burials or cremations), medical expenses, counseling, lost wages, replacement services and prescriptions, etc.

Cassie Jones, executive director for the commission, says three staff members will be in Samson next Wednesday to meet with victims, or surviving relatives, of Alabama's worst killing spree.

Jones says the commission provides up to $15,000 for those who meet the eligibility criteria.  Currently individuals form the District Attorney's office and other victim service organizations are assisting with much needed services.  However, Jones says, it would be best and more expedient for ACVCC to assist victims directly without slowing the process through third parties.

Victims or their survivors may apply directly through ACVCC to receive financial assistance.
