Former Dothan principal faces more charges

DOTHAN, Ala. (AP) - Police have charged a former Dothan High School principal with three more misdemeanor charges for allegedly for having an inappropriate relationship with a female student.

Tuesday's arrest of 41-year-old Andrew Sewell, 41, of Dothan, bring the total number of misdemeanor contributing to the delinquency of a minor counts to four. Police previously arrested Sewell and charged him with a similar charge on Feb. 26.

The charge filed last month alleged Sewell had sex with a student under the age of 18. It alleged the sexual act occurred between Jan. 2 and Jan. 28. Sewell had been scheduled for an April 3 trial on the first charge.

A police statement said the new charges are with the same victim. The Dothan City School Board fired Sewell March 9.
