WSFA 12 News has a clarification on recent electricity rate increases for Brundidge residents. Rates there have gone up 15.13% over the past year. For example, in January 2008 the average power bill for Brundidge residents was $113.31. In January 2009 it was on average, $130.46. That is an increase of $17.15.
City officials say power rates are going up nationwide, it's not just a problem for PowerSouth or the city of Brundidge.
"We just want to be sure that the facts are that our rates from January 2008 to 2009 have increased about 15.13% residentially not 100%, " says Brundidge City Manager, Britt Thomas.
