Two retailers locating in Prattville

New stores opening up shop in Prattville.  WSFA 12 News confirms Academy Sports and Outdoors and Hobby Lobby plan to open locations in Prattville. The two retailers will be the first to open stores in phase one of The Exchange.  The new shopping center is located at the intersection of Cobbs Ford Road and U.S. 82.

Academy will operate a 74,000 square foot store and will offer in excess of 100 full and part time jobs.  Hobby Lobby will occupy 55,000 square feet and create up to 50 full and part time jobs.  "We believe we will be a perfect fit for this community, as we understand, after three consecutive State 6A football championships, Prattville takes it's sports seriously," said Sandy Thompson, Marketing and Promotions of Academy Sports & Outdoors.  Scott Nelson, Assistant Vice President of Real Estate for Hobby Lobby added, "Prattville is a great market, and we look forward to providing the City of Prattville with all of their arts, crafts and home dẻcor needs." "I think it is another sign that soldifies Prattville as the River Region's shopping hub north of the River Region.  Folks are recognizing that we're becoming one of Alabama's shopping destinations and that's good for our citizens," says Prattville Mayor Jim Byard.

A ground breaking is planned for May with both stores opening in the fall.  Mayor Byard also tells WSFA 12 News, the city anticipates another retail announcement in about two weeks.
