Heart attack triggers fatal crash

PRATTVILLE, AL (WSFA) - An 18-wheeler driver is dead after having a heart attack behind the wheel. The driver, identified as 62-year-old David Carl Reese, was traveling along U.S. Highway 82 when the accident happened.

Authorities with the Alabama State Troopers, the Autauga County Sheriff's Department and the Prattville Police Department responded to the scene.

His truck was not carrying any hazardous materials, or other passengers, but it was flipped on its side in a revine. Skidmarks could be seen along the roadway where the truck began heavy braking.

The Alabama State Health Department recommends any driver who feels a shortness of breath, chest pains, pain in either arm or even indigestion pull off the road immediatley. They also recommend calling 911 immediately because these are all signs of an impending heart attack.
