Wetumpka, Ala. (WSFA) -- Saturday's rains opened up the road in Elmore county. A sinkhole swallowed a car on Hill Street in Wetumpka.
Rescue crews were able to pull the driver to safety, medics took her to a hospital we're told she's expected to be okay.
Officials don't know yet what caused the sinkhole, but believe Saturday's rains may have played a role.
"I don' t think it will be uncommon to see other sink holes in the area, in most cases they appear quickly if someone puts weight on it like the vehicle traveling over it did today, " said Wetumpka fire Chief Greg Willis.
