After tough competition from Prattville, Montgomery has won the Hyundai Mobis plant. That's an auto parts manufacturing unit of Hyundai Motors. The Mobis plant will cost 35 million dollars to build and will hire 400 local workers.
Mayor Bobby Bright made Tuesday's announcement. Bright says this announcement may be just the beginning of more good economic news for the river region over the next few months.
Prattville was Montgomery's top competition for the new Mobis plant. Leaders there say they are disappointed, but they are now gearing up to fight for the next supplier. City Council President, Dean Argo, says they have all learned from this experience and now know what companies are looking for. He believes Autauga County will still benefit through Mobis employing some of its people, new workers moving to Prattville, and sending their children to schools in the preferred community.
