AG warns against price gouging

MONTGOMERY, Ala. (AP) - Attorney General Troy King says he will not tolerate price-gouging and home repair fraud in 11 Alabama counties damaged by storms and floods.

King says state law prohibits "unconscionable pricing" of items for sale or rent.

The provisions are in effect for Baldwin, Clarke, Covington, Coffee, Crenshaw, Dale, Elmore Geneva, Houston, Henry and Washington counties.

Citizens can report problems of alleged fraud or price-gouging to the Office of Consumer Affairs by calling toll-free 1-800-392-5658, or though the Attorney General's main web page at www.ago.alabama.gov.
