Fairview Avenue could be getting a facelift

MONTGOMERY, AL., (WSFA) --  Fairview Avenue is a major thoroughfare in west Montgomery and it's always busy. That is why leaders from the National Economic Development Council out of Washington D.C. conducted a study here this week that focused on cleaning up the stretch of Fairview Avenue from Court Street to I-65.

Leaders suggested ideas for new development and beautification. They recommended that the city create a Community Development Authority to entice businesses to that area of town by cleaning up abandoned properties.

Along with development organizations, the council suggested looking into infrastructure work as well. Things like sidewalks and benches. Montgomery City Council members told us that they are already working on projects that would bring some of these additions to Fairview.
