14 confirmed tornadoes in Alabama over weekend

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (AP) - The National Weather Service confirms at least 14 tornadoes struck across Alabama on Sunday, killing two people in Morgan and Marshall counties.

The twisters also killed 90,000 chickens when poultry houses on two Blount County farms were destroyed.

The weather service says tornadoes also touched down in Bullock, DeKalb, Hale, Lawrence, Marshall, Morgan, Montgomery, Perry, Russell, St. Clair and Shelby counties.

In the Birmingham area, the strongest twister brought 122 mph winds through Blount and St. Clair counties, and traveled a path more than six-and-a-half miles long and 300 yards wide. ---
