DOTHAN, AL (WSFA) - Abuse charges are now filed against a man accused of burning a 7-month-old infant. The charges stem from an April 18, 2009 incident when Dothan Police responded to the 2300 block of Denton Road where reports indicated a child was suffereing from severe burns.

Investigators found the baby burned over 50 percent of her body. She was transported to a local hospital and then air lifted to a hospital in Birmingham.

Jamie Abrams, 29, was charged Wednesday with Aggravated Child Abuse and booked into the Dothan City Jail. He was later transfered to the Houston County Jail where he remains on a $200,000 bond.

Investigators say the child's burns, which were second degree, were the result of being placed in hot water.
