Interstate 65/85 work starts Monday

Montgomery, Ala. (WSFA) --  Attention drivers, interstate construction will begin Monday afternoon.

Construction will focus around the I-65 and I-85 interchange near downtown.  Starting tomorrow, the on-ramp from Day Street will be closed.  If you're trying to get from I-65 to I-85 from either direction, those ramps will be reduced down to just one lane.

It's all part of an existing widening project, and the work is expected to last until Thursday.

Another road closure is planned for downtown tomorrow, from McDonough Street between Columbus and Jefferson will be blocked off for Alabama Power maintenance work. But, you'll still be able to access the businesses in that area.

U.S. President Donald Trump speaks with Russian President Vladimir Putin during a press conference after their meeting at the Presidential Palace in Helsinki, Finland, Monday, July 16, 2018.

Standing alongside Putin, Trump steered clear of any confrontation with the Russian, going so far as to question American intelligence and last week's federal indictments that accused 12 Russians of hacking into Democratic email accounts to hurt Hillary Clinton in 2016.
