MONTGOMERY, AL (WSFA) - On Thursday, April 30, 2009, at 5:51 p.m., Montgomery Police officers responded to 3403 Doris Circle in reference to a subject shot.

Upon arrival, the victim, Jerome Herman Adams, age 45, of Hope Hull, was found lying in front of the residence bleeding from a gunshot wound to the back of his head.  Mr. Adams was transported to Baptist South Hospital where at 6:21 p.m. he was pronounced deceased.

Detectives responded to the scene to conduct an investigation.   Samuel Washington Jr., age 51, of 3435 Doris Circle, was developed as a suspect.   Mr. Washington turned himself in to police near Herron Street and Goldthwaite Street a short time after the offense.  He was interviewed and charged with Murder.

It appears the shooting stemmed from a dispute between Mr. Washington and the victim over $200.00 that Mr. Washington suspected the victim of stealing from inside his garage.  Both parties involved have extensive criminal histories and also there were illegal narcotics located on the ground next to the victim when police officers arrived on the scene.

Mr. Washington was placed in the Montgomery County Detention Facility under a $75,000 dollar bond.
