MONTGOMERY, Ala. (AP) - A lawsuit has been filed by the parents of two elementary school students in Elmore County who want to take their children out of school for the remainder of the school year because of the swine flu scare.
Montgomery attorney Jerry Blevins and his wife, Carol Blevins, filed the suit Friday against the Elmore County Board of Education and the Alabama State Board of Education. The suit says school officials refused to allow the Blevins' children to do their school work from home until the school year ends on May 21.
Montgomery County Circuit Judge Charles Price has scheduled a hearing on the lawsuit for 8:15 a.m. Monday. Elmore County Superintendent Jeff Langham did not immediately return calls seeking comment.
