Highway renamed in honor of Lt Gen Hal Moore

A local hero in Auburn now has a state highway named after him in honor of his service in the military.  A highway will be renamed after Lieutenant General Hal Moore who is best known for his courage in the Vietnam War.  That courage was portrayed in the movie "We were Soldiers."

A three mile stretch of Highway 280 that runs through Auburn will be named after Moore.

"There are very few people in my life that I've ever met that I said, that's the person I want to live up to.  That's the kind of individual I want to become.  Lt. General Hal Moore is that person," says Governor Bob Riley.

Moore retired from the Army in 1977 after 32 years.
