Montgomery County EMA siren tests changing

The tornado sirens will sound in Montgomery County Wednesday for the monthly test, but there will be changes.  The EMA will be testing a new system with sirens sounding in the northern zone of the county, then in the southern part.

"If we have a tornado warning in the extreme southern part of the county, we don't want to disrupt the activities in the northern part and vice versa.  We've studied this and look at the pros and cons and we decided we want to move this way.  First thing we have to do is test this and if it works out in a positive way, then we'll implement it," explains Montgomery County EMA Director, Steve Jones.

The Montgomery EMA is also developing a siren watch program.  If you're interested, email cfox@montgomeryal.gov.
