Alabama Power opens Coosa river spill gates

Posted by: Matt Stanley - bio | email

Lake Jordan, Ala. (WSFA) -- Due to this week's rain and to manage the rising lake levels, Alabama Power is opening spillway gates at most of its dams along the Coosa river.

Gates at Jordan, Mitchell, Weiss, Logan Martin, Neely Henry, and Lay are now open.

Two storage reservoirs on the Coosa, Weiss Lake and Lake Logan Martin, will go above summer pool levels and are expected to continue to rise in the coming days.

Folks living near these areas are urged to stay alert for rising water over the next few days.
