Troy, Ala. (WSFA) -- Troy University's board of trustees approved construction of a new multi-purpose arena Friday.
Trustees gave the go-ahead to issue up to $57 million in bonds for the arena, a new 1,000 seat dining hall and fraternity village. The arena will seat about 6,000 fans, about 50% more than Trojan Arena, which was renovated about 10 years ago.
But on the other side of the coin, it's going to cost more to attend Troy. Friday, the trustees approved an 8.3% tuition hike for undergraduate students and a 10% increase for graduate students.
