Opelika High School senior killed in crash

The senior class of Opelika High School is mourning a classmate's death.  Just a week before graduation, 18 year old Kayla Vines died in a car accident.  State Troopers tell our news partner WTVM, Kayla lost control of her car on Highway 431 and was not wearing a seatbelt.

Opelika High School plans to have a special presentation for Kayla during graduation next Friday.

    Montgomery police have made an arrest in the Sunday morning Bragg Street shooting of 23-year-old Marcus Cooley. Curtis London, 29, of Montgomery has been arrested and charged with capital murder says Cpt. Regina Duckett. It was around 3:30 a.m. Sunday when both the Montgomery Police Department and Fire Medics responded to a subject shot in the 1200 block of Bragg Street.     Many across the state had a chance to experience the once in a lifetime solar eclipse event. Down in the Wiregrass, Mother Nature had other plans. A thunderstorm about 20 minutes before the total eclipse shut down the solar eclipse party at Landmark Park in Dothan.
