PIKE ROAD, AL (WSFA) - A major announcement for Pike Road, they're about to build a new town hall. City leaders bought the Pike Road Station Shopping Center at Vaughn Road. They plan to develop and design the interior of the center space into the new town hall space. The other spaces will be leased out. It will also allow for the development of a civic auditorium.
It cost the town about $4 million, which the mayor says is less expensive than starting from scratch. "The town of Pike Road see this purchase as moving one step closer to fulfilling our vision of developing town center locations at the traditional crossroads of the community. With the proximity to the public library and the post office, occupying the Pike Road Station allows the town to centralize many important public services," says Mayor Gordon Stone.
