Montgomery, Ala. (WSFA) -- The so-called dean of America's civil rights movement, Dr. Joseph Lowery helped a historic church celebrate a milestone Sunday.

Lowery was the keynote speaker at St. John's AME church in downtown Montgomery.

The church is marking its 138th anniversary and was founded way back in 1871.

Rev. Lowery, who also spoke at President Obama's inauguration congratulated the congregation on its longevity.
