DOTHAN, AL (WSFA) - A fatal stabbing claimed the life of a Dothan man Monday.

Monday night Dothan police received a call that someone had been stabbed at Lavista Trailer ark off Denton road.

After arriving police found 31 year old Robert Darrell Evens with a stab wound to his chest.

Evans was rushed to the hospital where he was later pronounced dead.

During their investigation police say Evans and another man Abraham Cuomo were fighting.

Evans went to Cuomo's house earlier in the evening and after some time the two started fighting and Evans pulled a knife on Cuomo.

That's when police say Evans was stabbed in self defense.

"There are different type scenarios you can look at when self defense is a factor, and we feel like with all the information that has been gathered that this is one of these cases," said Dothan Police Chief John Powell.

No charges are being filled against Cuomo and the death is being ruled as self defense.

However the investigation is being presented to the grand jury.
