MONTGOMERY, AL (WSFA) - Thursday is graduation day for seniors at Taylor Road Academy, but many are in a state of mourning.

Late Wednesday evening three of the school's students were injured, one fatally, when the SUV they were traveling in crashed.

The accident happened on Woodley Road just north of the Trotman Road intersection. Investigators say the SUV flipped several times and went about 300 feet down Woodley Road.

Sixteen year old Regenia Rosemary Gibbs, the driver, was killed. Two other victims, ages 14 and 15, were taken to Baptist South Hospital with non life-threatening injuries.

The girls had just left an art class, and were headed to one of the girls' home to watch a movie when the accident happened.

An investigation into the wreck is ongoing, but state troopers say excessive speed was a factor in the crash.
